The SD prefix was used as the root catalogue number with additions depending on format and label. Singles used the plain SD prefix, LPs added an L to the end and 7” LPs added 33 to the start. When Matchbox was started, an M was added.

Johnny Parth’s Roots label was pressed and issued in the UK from Austrian metalwork with Austrian-printed sleeves. The better selling titles were issued with UK-manufactured sleeves and labels. Ahura Mazda LPs, similarly, were pressed in the UK from US metalwork.

Amon Ra started as a record label in 1973 to release chamber and classical music, with the emphasis on recording work using authentic instruments. The instruments used were predominantly from the Finchcock’s Collection and musicians from Dartington.

The Matchbox imprint was started in 1968 with the SDM catalogue number prefix. Several Matchbox LPs were issued, for reasons unknown, with SDL catalogue numbers. Later, in the 1980s, the Bluesmaster series was issued.

Village Thing began in December 1969 with the intention of releasing quality folk music without the music business getting in the way of the music. In this it was successful, in that the music came first, but dealings with the music business finally caused the label to fold.
